How You Can Research Legislation

Here are some directions to help you research or view legislation that has been introduced in the State House or Stat Senate.
Here are the directions for finding currently active legislation:
  1. To track bills, go to the NH General Court's main dashboard: http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us
  2. On the left side of the webpage, below the photo of the State House Dome and above the "If You're Looking for..." section, there is the "Find a 2020 Bill" section.
  3. Type the bill number into the "Find a 2020 Bill" search-bar in order to find the bill you are looking for.
  4. Do not forget to denote whether it is a House Bill or Senate Bill by prefacing the bill number with an "sb" or "hb" (ex. hb500).
  5. You can also use the "Advanced Bill Status Search" or the "Bill Text Search" under the "If You're Looking for..." section for more complex research.
  6. Another good resource is the legislation database, LegiScan. Here is the link to access their homepage: https://legiscan.com/NH (LegiScan keeps track of trending legislation too).
Here are the directions for finding legislation filed before the legislative session begins:

  1. To track bills that were filed prior to the legislative session, go to the NH General Court's main dashboard: http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us
  2. Find the "If you're looking for..." section on the left side of the webpage.
  3. Click on the "2021 LSRs" at the top of the "If you're looking for..." section.
  4. On the New Hampshire Legislative Service Requests dashboard, you can search for LSRs using keywords, the LSR number, or by the legislator.
